File format:
.FLAC, .WAV or .AIFF - Lossless formats only.
Sample rate:
Keep it at the source sample rate (44.1 - 192kHz).
Bit Rate:
24 bits or higher - no dithering on the files (leave this for the mastering stage!).
Procedure:
- Before starting at the export of all the separated channels, first export your own mix (or master) and include it in the package. We’re using this as a reference.
- Take a good look at all the individual channels, make sure to remove all unnecessary EQ’s or compressors.
- Keep all the plugins that you’ve used to design the individual sound turned ON.
- Bypass all the plugins that you’ve used to mix the track.
- Label all the channels so it makes sense.
- Make sure that the levels on all the channels are safe (below -1dBFS, TP).
- Export all the individual channels. Make sure to include automation in the export and turn off normalisation.
- If there are vocals in the song, export an extra copy of the unprocessed vocals as well.
- ZIP or RAR all the files per song and upload it to the (private) dropbox link provided in the email contact. WeTransfer and Google Drive are also possible.
We’ll make sure to check the files when they arrive and let you know if everything is okay. It could happen that, while processing, we discover something for which we need a different file.
We’ll always contact you to discuss this.
F.A.Q:
Is it possible to export multiple versions of a channel?
Yes, a maximum of 2 options is possible, make sure to label it!
Do I really need to include my own mix?
No, it’s not mandatory, however, your mix can give us a good feeling for the vibe you’re looking for and is also used for error checking of the channels.
I have a channel that can’t be split into separated channels (for instance a drum loop). What now?
Well, we always want to have the most optimal material. If the loop already is a combination of multiple instruments that can’t be split anymore, then that is the most optimal material :-)
